Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and quote for your solar system.

• Quote and contact forms: your name, email address, phone number, postcode, the service you are interested in, and anything you write in your message.
• Solar Roof Check: the address you search (or the point you tap on the map) and its map location. If you ask for the report, we also collect your name, phone number and email address, and we email the report to that address.
• When you call or email us: the details you give us, such as your property address and power bills, so we can prepare a quote.
• Technical information: your IP address and browser details, which our hosting and bot protection services process to deliver the site and block spam and abuse.

You do not have to give us any personal information. If you do not, we may not be able to reply to your enquiry or send you a Solar Roof Check report.

2. How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
• To contact you about solar for a property you checked with the Solar Roof Check.
• To carry out, support and warranty any work you go ahead with.
• To keep the website secure, prevent spam and limit automated use of the Solar Roof Check.
• To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

We will not add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the website and handle enquiries. They only receive what they need to provide their service:

• Vercel, which hosts the website and processes form submissions.
• Resend, which delivers our email: your Solar Roof Check report to you, and form submissions to our inbox.
• Google (Google Maps Platform), which receives the addresses and map locations used in the Solar Roof Check to find the property and return roof and sunlight data, shows the map on our contact page, and serves the website’s fonts.
• Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), which may receive a searched location to match it to the correct property address.
• Cloudflare (Turnstile), which checks that form submissions and roof checks come from people, not bots.
• Vimeo, which plays the background video on our homepage with its “do not track” setting on.
• Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager), which receives the pages viewed, whether a phone number was tapped or an enquiry sent, and the usual technical details such as browser, approximate location and referring site. Your name, email, phone number and the address you check are never sent to it.
• Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and a replay of the visit, so we can see where the site is confusing. It masks text you type into forms by default, so your name, email, phone number and the address you check are not captured in a replay.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

4. Storing information overseas

Some of these providers store or process information outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States. We use established providers that protect personal information in ways that, overall, provide comparable safeguards to those in the Privacy Act 2020.

5. Cookies

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages people use. It sets its own cookies (names beginning _ga) to recognise a returning browser, and it records when someone taps a phone number or sends an enquiry form, as a count rather than with any personal details. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run ads from this site. The Solar Roof Check sets one cookie of its own:

• rc_pass keeps your address search working for 30 minutes after the bot check.

Google (including Analytics and Tag Manager), Microsoft (Clarity), Cloudflare and Vimeo may use their own cookies or similar technologies when their services load on our pages, under their own privacy policies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but the Solar Roof Check may not work without them.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond, to provide and support any work you go ahead with (including for the life of its warranties), and to meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations. After that we delete or de-identify it.

7. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email office@wekasolar.co.nz or call 021 0914 5069. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

9. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about your privacy, contact our privacy officer at office@wekasolar.co.nz. If you are not happy with our response, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
